All hail the new Emir of Kano

Emir-Of-Kano

So a former Central Bank Governor becomes an Emir and not everyone is pleased, who would have thought huh?. The inauguration of Lamido Sanusi as the Emir of Kano after the previous Emir Bayero died was seen as more of a political move by the Governor of the State who was formerly of the PDP party, now an APC member.

One person who would not be pleased is the President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan who sacked Sanusi earlier this year as the central bank governor citing financial irregularities, Sanusi promptly turned the narrative back on the Presidency by claiming some of Nigeria's oil funds were missing and unaccounted for. There is currently an ongoing court case involving Mr Sanusi and the Federal Government though I suspect that case would not see the light of the day (surely an Emir would not be called by a court to testify?).

Now that Kano is firmly in the anti-Jonathan camp it’s beginning to look like the President is looking more and more isolated in the North and the chances of him being re-elected come the next elections are slowly but surely dwindling.
